I don't think there is any doubt that I will someday be a crazy cat lady but I think we need to break the stigma attached to it. There is nothing wrong with loving cats.
Raina's Cat Rescue is a group of volunteers who are trying to find homeless cats new forever homes. We are located in Cambridge, Ontario. We are not trying to make money from the cats but we ask for an adoption fee that will pay for the cost of vetting, vaccines and spaying/neutering. The cost is $100 for female cats and $75 for male cats. If interested in any of the cats on our pages please contact us at rainascatrescue@gmail.com

How to Find a Lost Cat
I lost my cat Rosie last summer for nearly two months. While she was gone, I learned a lot about finding lost cats.
First, I searched my home and yard using a flashlight and looking into every possible hiding space I thought she could fit into. I left cat food and water outside for her and I moved her litter box outside so she would have a familiar scent to follow home.
I went to my neighbors to ask if try had seen her and to ask permission to check their yards and sheds.
I listed her with pictures on Finding Lost Pets, Kijiji, Tabby Tracker, Craigslist, Facebook and Twitter and I asked everyone to share the information. Finding Lost Pets also has a printable Lost Cat poster. I put the posters everywhere.
I visited the local shelters with pictures of her and filed missing reports with them. I returned to the shelters weekly to make sure her file wasn't pushed to the back and forgotten.
Rosie wasn't microchipped and she wasn't wearing an ID tag. She should have been. That was an error on my part.
One of my many trips to the shelter finally paid off because someone turned her in. We were so relieved to have her home.
Once I had her home I bought her and the other cats new collars and tags along with the Loc8tor cat tracker. It is a GPS tracker that hooks onto the cats collars. I purchased it from Www.loc8tor.com It has been a very worthwhile investment.

All Natural Flea Remedy
Spring is here!
That means the possibility of fleas.
There are many great flea remedies on the market either available through stores or your vet but I have a natural treatment that will prevent and get rid of fleas. It is a little more work than the manufactured variety but if you are looking for a natural solution, here it is.
You will need, a flea comb, 3 lemons, 3 cups of water, a spray bottle and a pot.
Chop the lemons and add them to the water in the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil then allow to cool and steep for three hours.
Strain the mixture into the spray bottle.
Lightly mist the cat with the mixture and comb it through their fur with the flea comb. My cats don't like to be sprayed/misted so I soak the comb in the mixture then comb through their fur.
The mixture can also be used around the house to spray their bedding, couch, or any other area fleas can hide.

Reaction When My Husband Asks Where the New Cat Came From
We have had the experience here in my house when my other half has come home from work to discover an extra cat in the house. It has become so normal to me for a new foster to be arriving that I don't always remember to mention it.

Pet Value on Holiday Inn Drive in Cambridge
This isn't related to cats but it is about the store where I buy my pet food.
The Pet Value in Cambridge on Holiday Inn Drive is having Lambs in the store today. They are allowing pictures to be taken with the lambs with donations toward charities.
Stop by to see them. They are too cute!

Keep Your Cat Healthy with Lots of Exercise
For cats, playing is exercise.
Playing with cats can provide hours of entertainment for both you and your cat. Fortunately, their toys are usually pretty inexpensive.
My favorite cat toy and my cats favorite toy has always been a tissue tied to a string. When I have lots of energy, I run around the house with the tissue on a string and laugh as the cats chase it and me around the house. When I'm feeling lazier I sit on the couch and wiggle the string so the cats can hunt for it. When I'm feeling really lazy I tie the string to the dog and I rest on the couch while the cats chase the dogs with their little tissue.
One of the best parts of this game is the pride the cats show when they catch their tissue prize.

I am Thankful
I am thankful for every day with my fur babies. Their lives are far to short for the love they give.

I Just Want to Drink Wine and Pet My Cat
This sounds like a great day to me. Drinking wine and petting cats. I probably wouldn't wear a black tshirt to do it.

The Healing Power of Cat Purrs
I've always known I feel much better when I have cats around. Now I know there is scientific proof that they have healing powers.
This is just another reason to love cats.

The Decision on Lawrence the Cat.
Lawrence the cat has now been spayed and is healthy and beautiful. The problem is that she has been in my home long enough that the family has accepted her as one of our own and she has claimed us as her family.
Now I am faced with the dilemma of keeping her or not.
If I keep her, I no longer have that extra space for foster cats who need a temporary home and I may be leaving out someone who really needs my help.
If I send her on to a new home, I am breaking her trust and separating her from the family that she has claimed. She has been separated from two homes that I know of already. It would hurt her and the rest of our family to do that again.
For now, Lawrence will stay here with us. She will only be moving if the right family comes along who will love her as much as we do and if she chooses to go with them.

For Those Who Will Really Welcome a Bunny into Their Families
Rabbits are not toys that should be given to children for Easter but for families who are ready to commit to a rabbit as a lifetime companion, there are plenty available from

If you must have a bunny, please rescue one.

Cat Poop!
Have you ever noticed the horrified look the cats give us when we clean their litter boxes. I wonder if that is what they are thinking?

Lawrence has been spayed
Lawrence the cat was spayed today at Close Veterinary Clinic. As always, everyone at Close Veterinary Clinic was wonderful. We are so grateful for their help and their great treatment of all the animals in the rescue. THANK YOU.

Crazy Cat Lady Organizer
I may need one of these soon but there should be sizable slots to fit other animals too. Large slots on the bottoms for big dogs, middle sized ones in the center for the cats and smaller ones on the top for the snakes.
I will someday post the cast of characters who reside in my home permanently. Maybe I'll even try to get them all into an organizer. It would make for a really cute picture but I really doubt they would co-operate.
